Fully funded MA Data Journalism bursary
We have partnered with The Guardian Foundation to聽offer a bursary for applicants to our MA Data Journalism course.聽The bursary aims聽to assist students who face financial difficulty in attaining the qualifications needed to pursue a career in journalism and come from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the media. In particular those from a lower socio-economic background, Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ and people with a disability.

A mentor, matched with you聽based on your professional interests and experiences.
Opportunity for a 9 month fixed term contract at The Guardian starting after graduation.
Am I eligible for the Scott Trust Bursary?
You are eligible to apply for a Scott Trust Bursary if:

You will be/are a graduate and have permanent right of residence in the United Kingdom.

You will be able to demonstrate that without financial support you would be unable to pursue a Master鈥檚 qualification.

You will qualify for home fees.

You will not already have a Master's degree or other postgraduate qualification.
Three out of the six places will be awarded to Black aspiring journalists.聽The other three places will remain open to applicants who come from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the media. In particular those from a lower socio-economic background, Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ and people with a disability.聽
How do I apply?
The application deadline is聽Monday 24 March at 5pm. You can apply through The Guardian's 'work for us' platform. Your Bursary application doubles as your application to the course. .
As part of your application, you'll be asked to fill in a questionnaire, submit examples of your work, attend interviews and complete a written task.聽聽.
What happens next?
After submitting the online questionnaire and examples of your work, your application will be considered. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to a virtual interview.
