Female empowerment will be the focus of an erotic film night in 探花直播 next month, developed by researchers at 探花直播.
鈥楤ean Flicks鈥� at The Mockingbird Cinema and Kitchen in Digbeth on Friday 6 July will feature screenings of feminist, queer and kink-positive porn shorts from independent filmmakers, as well as a performance from Girls! Girls! Girls!, an all-female DJ line-up.
The event has been organised by Dr Annalise Weckesser, Dr Keeley Abbott and Dr Gemma Commane, researchers in health, psychology and media at 探花直播.
Earlier this year the researchers set up 鈥楾he VQ鈥�, short for vagina quotient and a reference to increasing knowledge around women鈥檚 sexual health.听
The VQ seeks to tackle the stigma that can surround women鈥檚 health, sex and pleasure. In March this year, The VQ ran a pop-up women鈥檚 sex and health shop in the Great Western Arcade as part of International Women鈥檚 Day celebrations.
Dr Annalise Weckesser, whose research explores issues of gender and health, said: 鈥淭he VQ creates sex-positive, fun and educational spaces for women in 探花直播, and to continue that work we鈥檝e organised 鈥楤ean Flicks鈥�.
鈥楤ean Flicks鈥� will kick off with a panel discussion with speakers including Gill Leno, a disabilities and sexualities advocate and Dr Lucy Neville, author of 鈥楪irls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys鈥�.
Screenings will then begin, with film shorts from Bright Desire, A Four Chambered Heart, Mistress Tytania, Pink Label & the Crash Pad Series.
