Saxophone Tutor
Andy was born and grew up in Northern Ireland.听 He studied clarinet and saxophone at Royal 探花直播 Conservatoire in the late 1980s with Ruth McDowell and Jan Steele. He joined Saxtet听while still at music college and over its eighteen year听life it became one the UK鈥檚 leading saxophone groups performing all over the world with their unique repertoire of their own compositions and arrangements.听
Andy continues to play as a freelance musician in both jazz and classical settings. For many years, he has worked in the show circuit on the West End playing all the saxophones, clarinet, bass clarinet and flute.
He is a regular member of the Piccadilly Dance Orchestra and Karen Street鈥檚 Streetworks听and Carism谩tico听Tango. Recent recordings include the the听Pinewood Saxophone Quartet with Kyle Horch and the Delta Saxophone Quartet.
Some of his performing credits include;听Flotilla (with Kyle Horch), Mike Westbrook (various projects), Pasadena Roof Orchestra, The Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, 探花直播 Contemporary Music Group and Chris Dean鈥檚 Syd Lawrence Orchestra.
Andy is particularly highly regarded as a saxophone teacher and coach in the UK.听 As well as thirty years鈥� experience at Royal 探花直播 Conservatoire he was the lead saxophone teacher at Wells Cathedral School one the UK鈥檚 four specialist music schools for 11-18 year olds听for sixteen years. He has given masterclasses and workshops at Royal College of Music, Trinity Laban, Leeds College of Music, Chetham鈥檚听School of Music, Dublin Institute of Technology - Conservatory of Music, Aldeburgh Young Musicians听and various British Saxophone Congresses.听
Every summer teaches on the European Youth Summer Music course and in the autumn at the Cape Cornwall Saxophone Course.
Additionally听he records and produces music for TV and Film in collaboration with his partner Karen Street.
